I cannot help but think that many in SA were under the (mistaken) impression that after "democratisation" everything would be free, gratis, pasella and without any costs. The article hereunder just reinforces that belief .......

(I highlighted some aspects)

What is YOUR opinion????

Orange Farm residents 'angry'
Johannesburg - About 2 000 Orange Farm residents staged a march in the southern Johannesburg area on Tuesday morning to highlight their concerns over service delivery, police said.

Inspector Molefe Mokoena said they marched through extensions four and 10 of the impoverished neighbourhood and also set up a burning barricade of tyres.

"People are angry," said Orange Farm Crisis Community spokesperson Bricks Mokolo.

"This was not what we were expecting after being ignored by the apartheid government," he said.

"We thought that after liberation we will be empowered by everything."

They wanted houses and parks and the advent of prepaid electricity and water meters meant that only people with money could count on using these services, he said.

"It's only for those who have got money. Prepaid discriminates against the poor," said Mokolo
