Default Women in The SA Media Awards: final four announced

(Maybe someone could enlighten me if Namibia and other Southern African countries also feature somewhere in this set-up)

    And the finalists are...

The finalists for the annual Vodacom Women in The Media Awards are:
    • Khanyi Dhlomo, MD of Ndalo Media
    • Karima Brown, political editor of Business Day
    • Wendy Knowler, consumer journalist
    • Pheladi Gwangwa, station manager of Talk Radio 702.
Now in its sixth year, this is the only awards event in South Africa that exclusively recognises and honours women who have made a significant impact in the media industry.
    • Khanyi Dhlomo
Dhlomo is the driving force behind Ndalo Media and Destiny magazine in her dual role as founding editor of the publication and MD of Ndalo, which is a 50:50 joint venture with Media 24. Dhlomo was the editor of True Love magazine for eight years where she doubled the publication's readership and circulation.
    • Wendy Knowler
Knowler has been working as a journalist for 23 years, mostly with the Independent Newspapers group, and has specialised as a consumer journalist for the past decade. Since January 2004, she has been investigating and presenting a weekly consumer show, Consumerwatch, for East Coast Radio. Knowler is one of the few consumer journalists in South Africa.
    • Karima Brown
Brown has been the political editor at Business Day since 2006, where she writes a weekly column, opinion pieces and feature articles. She also contributes to Business Day's sister newspaper The Weekender and provides analysis for international media including the BBC, The New York Times, Al Jazeera, The Washington Post and CNBC. Brown previously worked as the executive producer for SAfm current affairs.
    • Pheladi Gwangwa
Gwangwa was appointed Talk Radio 702 station manager in March 2005. Since then she has been instrumental in maintaining the station's position as the number one news and talk station in the country. She's one of the few black female station managers in the country and was also influential in facilitating Primedia Broadcasting's acquisition of Cape-based music station Kfm.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at Summer Place, Johannesburg, on July 29, 2008.
