Re: If you could change one thing about your religion, what would it be?
You obviously have a bite! I wouldn't go as far as saying that it's all a lie to control man. That's too dismissive and simplistic, SnakeByte. To me it's a matter of faith: You are either a believer in a God, or you are not.
Personally, I'm agnostic and am not a believer or practice any particular religion, although I believe the fundamental values that most of the major religions espouse hold true. I would say this: Let everyone decide for themselves, and follow or practice any religion or pray to a God(s) that appeals to them spiritually and personally. But let them also be respectful and tolerant of people who don't believe in a God, and who are not believers, and who say so openly and clearly.
We live in a free world. To my mind anyone's right to practice or follow a religion stops where it impinges or impedes or restricts someone else's right to be a non-believer and to NOT follow any religion or believe in a particular God.
If I could changeone thing about some religions, it would be to appeal to people's love of each other and be tolerant of each other's views and beliefs and to stop trying to convert peple who obviously don't want to be converted.
