Talking about education in Namibia

Congratulations must go to the Polytechnic for scooping no less than three international awards, thereby earning itself and our country well-deserved international recognition in the education field.

In July, it received a special achievement award in GIS (Geoinformation System) at the Environmental System Research Institute International User Conference in San Diego, US. At that award ceremony, the African continent received a total of seven awards in all categories and the Polytechnic was the only academic institution to receive this particular award this year.

The second award went to the Polytechnic's School of Business Management (SBM). It received the prestigious Eduniversal Palms award from the International Scientific Committee of Eduniversal as one of the world's most influential international business schools.

THe Namibia Economist reports that the SBM was selected from about 1000 best business schools from over 150 countries for its international reputation and influence. This means it is rated as being on the same level as the London Business School, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Wits University among others.

And to crown it all off the Polytechnic also won the "Best Local Academy 2009" in Cisco Systems; the first time for any Namibian institution. Cisco Systems, you may know, is a leading computer network equipment manufacturer from the US, rewards institutions in Africa that excel in using its networking equipment.
