Ons wil graag van hierdie geleentheid gebruik maak, om ons mede Namibiese burgers wat Afrikaans magtig is, aan spoor om Afrikaans te bevorder.

Dit wil sê, dit is jou grondwettige reg om jou moedertaal te praat. Daar deur kan ons hierdie mooi en pragtige taal van ons bevorder en laat voort leef.

Die Italianers praat Italians, die Franse praat Frans, Afrikaners praat Afrikaans. Vir diegene wat glo Afrikaans is Europeus, daar wag 'n groot verrassing op julle in Europa. Die Europeurs praat in elke Europeuse land, 'n ander taal, die stem van die volk. Niemand kon met my Afrikaans of Engels praat in Spanje, ek moes Spaan "Habla" en in Duitsland, Italia, Frankryk, Holland, Engeland, ens., het hulle my verstom aangekyk indien ek Afrikaans met hulle praat. Dit wil sê, indien jy nie hulle medium van onderig verstaan nie, moet jy dit aan leer. Waarom moet ons dit makliker maak vir ander?

Dit is niks boos nie, net realisties en die konkrete feite.

Baie persone sal probeer om julle te mislei, om Engels te praat. Dit is natuurlik nie sleg indien jy Engels magtig is nie.

Hoeveel Engelse, Duitsers, Chineese, Arabiere, of ander vreemdelinge wat uit die buiteland na Namibia gekom, praat of verstaan Afrikaans? In Namibia is daar baie min van die buitelanders, wat enige v/d land se taale kan praat?

Hier is 'n byvoegsel van Artikel 3 van die grondwet.



Article 3 - Language

(1)The official language of Namibia shall be English.(2)Nothing contained in this Constitution shall prohibit the use of any other language as a medium of instruction in private schools or in schools financed or subsidised by the State, subject to compliance with such requirements as may be imposed by law, to ensure proficiency in the official language, or for pedagogic reasons.(3)Nothing contained in Sub-Article (1) hereof shall preclude legislation by Parliament which permits the use of a language other than English for legislative, administrative and judicial purposes in regions or areas where such other language or languages are spoken by a substantial component of the population.

Although I agree with sentiments I am surprised at the poor command of Afrikaans you exhibit in your exhortation.

As Afrikaans inderdaad jou moedertaal is, verkrag jy menige spel en ander reëls afskuwelik.

Ter opknapping van jou moedertaalvaardigheid, kan ek met vrymoedigheid die volgende aanbeveel:

Die Korrekte Woord - HJJM van der Merwe

Daar is ook etlike ander goeie taalkundige boeke vryelik in die handel beskikbaar.

It just show me that you do not understand how such scripts often work best as mnemonic aids for oral texts, or as outlines that will be fleshed out in speech.

Don't panic Peter, it's simple and you'll certainly grasp it easy, right? This is very common in the orthography of a language like Afrikaans, specialy when orthography is colloquilly used with spelling.

As we all know spelling is only a part of orthography and that other elements of the field of orthography such as breaking of words, punctuation, hyphenation and capitalization, defines the rules about how to write Afrikaans properly.

Please do not get me wrong, I am not refering to a dialect of Afrikaans.

It is needless to go into diacritics and graphemes and the use of it as well as the rules that apply.

Again, this is not a Paleoafrikaans semi-sillabaries or the Morpho-phonemic orthography as used by the Russians and Germans, rather seen it as the classic archiphoneme, okay?
