This is an invitation for lawbreaking and making sure criminals have it easier.
Companies use fleet systems aka Petrol Cards for fuelling and repairs. A petrol card cannot be used in a shop or ATM. The whole management of fleet goes down the drain.
Drivers would have to carry large sums of money around which make theft/robbery very interesting. Giving a company debit/credit card to staff invites to corruption.
The card merchant has to pay a 5% commission to the bank. That may not be charged extra at the service station. If an service station would do that they would contravene the governmental price control of fuel.
The service station owners DO NOT have the choice to NOT accept Cards. The law states that legal tender MUST be accepted. Cards being made a legal tender there is no choice !
What about South African's that come to Namibia and spend their money with a Petrol Card ? Must they now carry around all that money and be made easy prey for criminals ?
What about BON checking their own laws and other laws that are applicable before making such a foolish decision.
