Default Nampower hikes: It is your RIGHT to complain!

    Friends/colleagues,
NamPower has asked for an electricity increase of 35%. If none of us object to it, the increase will be approved by the Electricity Control Board and Cabinet.
We can stop it by writing a short objection and faxing (fax 061-374304/5) or e-mailing (manyame@ecb.org.na) it to before 10h00 Tuesday, according to an advert placed by ECB in today's The Namibian (page 23) or yesterday's New Era.
The increase will affect us big time because it will also push up the price of fuel, food and many other things.
Household electricity can go up by around N$60. That is possibly the whole of someone's salary increase for last year.
We can stop it. Let's act now. Send this to as many people as possible and let them act. It is a countrywide increase.
    Cheers

The difficult part of this to understand is that no one will invest in electrical power generation in Namibia because it is virtually impossible to make money at it. If you have 2 million US to invest in a SMALL generator, you will not make a profit for twenty years. What company with 2 million would think about putting their money into Namibian power generation if this is the case? The sad solution? Charge more for power so companies can get involved. Remember that companies are not charities. Money must be earned and loans paid off. It is either this or stay used to power outages, I am sad to say.

    What do you think?
