    Default Who will succeed Pohamba?

With the race to succeed President Pohamba heating up within SWAPO Party, which faction do you think will end up winning the power struggle? Will it be Pendukeni Ithana, secretary general of the party, Hage Geingob, vice president of Swapo, or Nahas Angula, currently prime minister? Or will it be someone else, maybe former President Sam Nujoma's son Uutoni Nujoma?

Personally, I think that Geingob is a strong contender, but that Ithana will shore up the support in the SWAPO heartland in the North.

Hmm, this one will be interesting, and I think bruising for the Party. This is probably Geingob's last chance to run for President, with the young turks moving on up and restless for senior offices. Neither Ithana, not Angula will give up the race easily.

I vote Pendukeni, not because I agree that she should be the next president, but because I predicted this some two years ago, and is it not surprising she is one of the top choices even on this poll? SWAPO and its happenings are quite transparent if a non politician was able to predict them like this. I personally believe it is Hage's turn. Nahas is striking me as somewhat comic personality, does not necessarily always go well with the seriousness of the responsibility that comes with a head of state. Just an opinion of course.

Come to think of it, if Namibia and SWAPO wants to deny Hage his perfectly earned position as Head of state way before even the current Head of state was in sight for the position, why not at least elect an effective individual if Namibia's presidency is about tribe? Why not select the effective Abraham Iyambo, instead of a potential mistake in electing tribal-minded individuals? Just saying...

A bit of background on my then reasoning why I thought Pendukeni was going to be top in the next race: Since it really does not sound politically correct to argue along tribal lines, keeping the presidency in oshiwambo circles, the alternative was going to be the gender debate.

Since no non-oshiwambo females will make it to the top race, it will be easier for the faction that wishes to see the Namibian presidency only in oshiwambo hands, to stir up the gender debate. So wallah, Pendukeni is the top girl in action ever since. I then also listed Saara and Netumbo along the female SWAPO stalwards, however, for some reason Netumbo fell out of this race, and Saara obviously is still of very young age, so Pendukeni is it. Personally, Netumbo would have been a better option than Penny. She is less about tribe and more about quality and earning a right to achievements and recognition.

We need a different party to take over the reigns now. Swapo has run their run. It's over for them. We need new, fresh ideas from other individuals. Not the same, repeation from the same party.

    Change the routine.

It will be Pendukein Ithana. She is the strongest leader and she is supported by the people. Other parties? What parties? Is therer other parties? Nobody will replace the mighty SWAPO Party of Namibia!

I think Abraham Iyambo fits d bill much better, he seem to take correct measures wherever he gets posted. He is not only a born leader but a man with results...I would vote for him.

Its a different ball game alltogether if at all his party things him to be important enough of course :-)

I'm surprised Iyambo is picking up votes. Is he a potential contender? Good to see some real contenders on the list now as well, like Ekandjo and Hausiku. Looks like Geingob has also picked up votes lately... interesting....
