Re: The Myth of Democratic Consolidation in Namibia
A brilliant analysis and a timely reminder of how far democratcic consolidation is still beyond our reach. The fact that violence is perpetrated by members of political parties against Namibians who do not share their political stance and affiliation is perhaps the single most damning indicator that our Republic is not as tolerant, democractic and mature as our leaders are often want to proclaim. The fact that these vilent incidents remain in most cases unresolved and the perpetrators are not prosecuted for infriging the right to political association of their vicitms only serves to deepen suspicion of the establishment.
THERE IS NO PLACE FOR POLITICALLY-MOTIVATED VIOLENCE IN A DEMOCRACY
