Default Namibians soldiers to the DRC?

This talk of our soldiers going on another foregin adventure to the DRC concerns me. Let us remember where the last intervention led: Disaster and millions and millions down the drain - money that could have been used to build schools, hopsitals, clinics, pensions, roads, scholarships...... This matter must first be brought before Parliament and the Namibian people.

The times are not right to spend valuable resources on another foreign war adventure. Let the AU and the UN and the international community come up with concrete and realistic proposals as to hwot o intervene and then we may consider whether there is a chance of cusscess and whether our soldiers can controibute to the mission. But as it is, the talk is dangerous.

Surely this is a good thing! I understand the argument that it is expensive to send troops abroad but at the same time its not all about Namibia. We have an obligation to help!

Also, why do you think that America is always participating in these missions? Its not because they want to help people! Its because a good Army is not only trained and equiped but also experienced and that is what we now lack. This mission could offer our troops valuable experience and make them an even better Defence Force.

    Davon you are right ......

Death is an extremely valuable experience for our NDF troops.

Hitler's troops also gained "valuable experience" when they invaded France, Poland, Norway, Holland, Russia, etc

Cool Re: Namibians soldiers to the DRC?

On my side I don't see anything bad or sin for our forces to go there and protect people of DRC.

It's not a sin, Tuhafeni, and I'm sure our soldiers will do our country proud. It's a matter of priorties and modalities. In principle I think it is fine to send soldiers to the DRC to assist, but let us take care of our own people and build our own house first. Once we have done that, we can look to help others. First we need to help ourselves, and with the times as bad as they are, many people need help - as I am sure you know. Thi sis nothing against the people of DRC, it is simply to say that as much as we wish to help at this time, we are simply not in a position to do so. There is no shame in that.

    Tuhafeni,

I am proud of the NDF, but I question whether they are going there to protect the diamonds mines of some politicians or the democratic principles of the country
