Default State of the Nation 2008

I stand before this joint sitting of our august Parliament to fulfill an important constitutional duty of informing you, my compatriots, about the State of the Nation. Article 32 of the Namibian Constitution enjoins the President, after the tabling of the national budget, to inform the nation, through Parliament, about the policies and programmes of government in the preceding year as well as its plans for the new Financial Year. This occasion also serves another equally important purpose, namely, to reaffirm our commitment to the principles of accountability, transparency and good governance. The framers of the supreme law of the land, the Namibian Constitution, saw it fit to put in place a framework of checks-and-balances that regulates interactions among the three organs of State. This is one of the central pillars of our democratic traditions that have made it possible for our country to develop and build strong public institutions and systems........

What are your thoughts about the address?

Damn, no substanmce at all. In a process to come up with the an analitic synopsis answer for my organization, I almost could not find any straight issue beside the genaralized ones to substantiate. I was put to task not only to simply elaborate on the various open ended scenario but to elaborate further before making the necessary contractions since much generalizations made little sense . For instance, there is a clear dilema in explaning the flourishing constitutional democracy, the first line on the 2nd par. at a time of so much fundmental political upheaval of omuthia constituency type and economic uncertainty without free dialogues. Others need a clearer distinction, in order to be convinced for decision making. there are may people the world over who make use of the the address to make important decisions.

I have noticed a heavy preponderance of verbal acrobatics and dialectic discourse, but extremely little that one could really take and present to anybody as a viable alternative solution. All criticise what others have done, but no real alternatives are offered.

For instance, I would love to have someone translate the following into clear, unambiguous, plain English - an English that even a 5th grader would understand:

LOL!!!, Let's turn this into an english lesson then, my lecturers always preffered a concise and meaningfull writing style to a flowery and often cumbersome one.....cute stuff, so who be the Lecturer, Phelakuti, Oneword, Pietro or Shebeen? Or was it so confusing I am even on the wrong highway here ...ehr which emoticon will be exactly suitable here anyway???
