The former NBC Board Chairperson Ponhele ya France has died after a short illness.
The 62-year-old Ya France died after he was admitted at the Paramount Clinic in Windhoek last night.
The Veterans Affairs Ministry, where the deceased has been serving as Advisor to the Minister, confirmed that Ya France had complained that he was not feeling well over the weekend.
Ya France was born at Epuku in Ohangwena region and went into exile in the 1970's where he served as Announcer at the Voice of Namibia in Angola.
He studied Political Science at the University of Leipzig in the then East Germany before returning home in 1989.
Ya France was elected President of the National Union of Namibian Workers in 1993, Member of the National Assembly in 2000 and Chairperson of the NBC Board in 2005.
The memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
