An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, headed by Ms. Wipada Soonthornsima, visited Windhoek to conduct the 2008 Article IV consultation discussions. Meetings were held with Prime Minister Nahas Angula, Minister of Finance Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, Bank of Namibia Governor Thomas Alweendo, senior government officials, members of parliament, the private sector, labor unions, and the academic and donor communities.

Southern African leaders meeting in South Africa have resolved to provide “immediate military assistance” to the Democratic Republic of Congo where renewed fighting has displaced more than half a million people.
The regional leaders made the decision during a one-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) Extraordinary Summit held on 9 November to come up with a regional solution to the current military and political problems in the DRC and Zimbabwe.

SADC Secretary General Tomaz Salomao has finally admitted the power sharing deal signed on the 15th September was fraudulently altered before the signing ceremony and different from the one agreed to by the parties on the 11th September.

Finance Minister Trevor Manuel is among 11 Cabinet ministers and three deputy ministers who have resigned.
President Thabo Mbeki had received their letters of resignation, "which, regretfully, he has had to accept", the Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.
The Cabinet members who have resigned include Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, who earlier in the day announced her decision
