I think our soccer is out of its original vision since they are not winning and according to the rumours the players are drinking too much and lack dicispline when it comes to the couches or let me say the whole entire management. i think Rusten mogane was the only the right person to dicispline the team.

Background

Namibia Sport, Namibia's leading sport magazine first appeared in February 2002. Since then it has appeared on a monthly basis without fail, making it Namibia 's longest running independent magazine to date.

Namibia Sport was registered as a company in April 2002, with its directors being Henry Fernandes, owner of Solitaire Press and Helge Schutz, editor of Namibia Sport.

Namibia Sport's print run is currently 2 000, with an estimated readership of more than 10 000 per month. The Ministry of Basic Education and Culture has a standing order of slightly more than 700 copies per month, which are distributed to school libraries throughout Namibia . The magazine is distributed throughout Namibia with agents covering all major towns.

Track Record

Namibia Sport is focused on reporting on sporting excellence in Namibia and promoting a sporting culture in the country.

Namibia Sport covers all the major sporting events in Namibia , while regular profiles on Namibia 's top sportsmen and women have appeared. Features on national heroes like Frank Fredericks, Agnes Samaria, Eliphas Shivute, Mohammed Ouseb, Luketz Swartbooi, Elizabeth Mongudhi, Collin Benjamin, The Hitman Moses, Mannie Heymans and Douw Calitz have appeared, while Namibia 's major achievements on the international stage have been recorded.

Some of these include the Commonwealth Games of 2002, the All Africa Games, the Cricket World Cup and the Rugby World Cup, which all took place in 2003; and the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens .

On the local stage soccer receives preferential coverage, with the Brave Warriors' international matches and the MTC Namibia Premier League being covered in detail. Namibia Sport has helped to professionalise soccer, with the introduction of its soccer Player of the month and Player of the Season awards. Arnold Subeb of Black Africa was our first Player of the Season in 2004, while William Chilufya of Civics was the 2005 Legal Shield Player of the Season. MTC have taken over as sponsors of the 2005/6 Player of the Month and Season competition.

Other sport codes are also promoted, with athletics, cricket, boxing, tennis, rugby and hockey receiving regular coverage.

Namibia Sport also emphasises the importance of the youth and, in collaboration with Pepsi, features the Junior Pepsi Sport Star of the month.
Namibia Sport Online

Namibia Sport's website first appeared at the beginning of 2005. Since then it has been updated on a near daily basis, to provide information about Namibian sport to a wider international public.

The website differs from the magazine in the sense that it focuses on hard news, which more than often reaches our online viewers first before other publications. The magazine is more analytical, featuring in-depth, investigative articles, profiles and features.

Some of the website's features include news reports accompanied by action photos, a photo gallery, opinion polls, log standings and a search engine for past articles, players, statistics, etc.

The website is growing and with staff members dedicated to the development and updating of the site, we will publish even more articles in the future.

Since the beginning of 2006, we have started offering clients an opportunity to advertise on the website.

Sport plays an important role in nation building and the development of the youth, who look up to their sporting heroes as role models. Namibia is blessed with exceptional sportsmen and women who continue to put their country on the map and serve as positive role models for the Namibian youth.
