I had a Glimpse of the locally shot movie, 10 000 BC, with local talent Steven Afrikaaner being part of the cast in it, quite impressive acting for a first timer, also local Damara talent was used in the movie, I must still source the gentlemans name but he was quite impressive. The Damara language is also used in the movie in some scenes, but the clicks do not seem to come out quite clear.....you can view the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBQAQ_t26lo

Talking about Genres that I think have a uniquely Namibian identitity, I view the following as just the right type of music Namibia needs to nurture and market worldwide to also get its place on the worldwide map, before other artist who do contemporary African music come as visitors to Namibia, borrow our sounds and make it forever part of their identities that are already well established: these are Mâ/gaisa, Shambo, Besub, Namastap and the sounds from the Kaoko, Himba, San, /Giruku and Caprivian traditions. I am not so convienced if Oviritje conforms to the Gloabal standards and will actually sell well outside Namibia, but I stand to be corrected of course.

Here is a Question, food for thought: Do the necessary stakeholders in Namibia create a conducive environment to propel uniquely Namibian sounds into the global market, which will be easily recognized as genre/s of typically Namibian origin?
This question requires to be viewed in par with what other countries who have well established genres so far can claim ownership to, e.g. Kizomba=Angolan, Kwaito=South African, etc, etc.....Does Namibia have what it takes to develop and own a genre as other African countries have achieved? your opinions please shebeeners!
