Oh ja, the score was 2-0, One of the stars of yesterday was Costa Geiseb, must hear who the other hero is, detail not available at the time of my posting..LOL!!!

Well done, Warriors! You did our nation proud!

And that with Schans threatening to resign. Maybe he must do that more often and the BW's will win more games?

Correction the scores is not 2-0, but 2-1 and congratulation to the Brave warriors hope they will continue well and qualify for 2010 world cup so that we will cheer them in South Africa.

Kenyans succumb to Namibia

It was heartbreak again in Windhoek, Namibia, as Harambee Stars fell to Brave Warriors, slightly over 10 years since losing at the Independence Stadium.

Costa Khaiseb stole in at the blind side on the stroke of fulltime to bundle in Namibia’s winner as the Brave Warriors beat Kenya 2-1 in the opening match of the 2010 World Cup/Africa Nations Cup Group 2 qualifier.

Wilko Risser of German Third Division side Schalke, gave the Brave Warriors the lead on 19 minutes when he chested Jeremia Baisako’s cross from the left flank before unleashing a hard volley past Arnold Origi in goal.

Austin Makacha, however, drew Harambee Stars level in the 40th minute, heading home Hartman Toromba’s clearance from the goal line.

Risser’s goal had galvanised the Kenyans with Titus Mulama going close soon after Namibia’s goal, only to see his shot drift off target following a counter-attack.

AJ Auxerre striker Denis Oliech then forced a fingertip save from the Namibian goalkeeper Athiel Mbaha on 35 minutes.

Makacha picked the cue and served up notice of intent a minute later when he crushed a header against the crossbar off Kevin Ochieng’s corner as the Kenyans showed more steel in the first half.

Oliech was at it again, but saw his short on a turn from the edge of the box parried round the post by the Namibian goalkeeper.

Their pressure paid off as the Namibians conceded several corners, the sixth of which, taken by Mulama, Makacha headed into the top left side of the goal.

Oliech powered past Toromba on the hour, but Mbaha saved at the Kenyan’s feet, resulting in injury. Coach Francis Kimanzi sent Francis Ouma as Oliech was stretchered off writhing in pain.

From then on, however, the Kenyans sat back and paid the price of allowing the Namibians to press forward.

With the scoreline at 1-1 going into the last minutes and Kenya on course to burying the ghosts of Francis Oduor’s own goal a decade ago, Khaiseb broke the Kenyans’ heart. Harambee Stars host Guinea next Saturday in the second match of the qualifiers.

Thanx One Informed, needless to say the said mentioned hero's name was seriously misspelled,LOL...it be Costa Khaiseb as opposed to Costa Geiseb( it is propably because of the way pips pronounce it nowadays, traditionally we would speel it //Khaiseb, with the click in there yo!)...
