Live video feed BP top kill operation

To view a live video feed of BP's latest attempt - called operation Top Kill - to plug the oil well leaking thousands of litres of oil into the Gulf Of Mexico every day, click here

There's also BP's Simultaneous Operations Overview web site, which has lots of graphics showing the different types of equipment being used in both the top kill attempt and the wider clean up operation.

As someone interested in technology, this is interesting stuff, as tragic as it is for our environment.

THanks, Geek. Very useful. I read that they appear to have had success with stemming the flow of oil and gas. Let's hope they can seal the well. Engineers have pumped enough heavy drilling fluid to block oil and gas from the well, US Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen said on Thursday morning, according to a report in the LA Times. This is a real danger closer to home as well, with Angol and South Africa engaged in deep sea oil drilling, and I wonder how prepared these countries are foa disaster of this magnitude.

Yeah, the top-kill ting does not seem to have worked. Now they're trying to lower another type of containment dome on a clean-cut pipe. Illustrations are attached.
