Default Informante exposes Namibian girls abroad as hookers

Since I am currently not in Windhoek, I only read the Informate online every now and then. I was quite surprised today, when I discovered an article which claims to have unearthed that several Namibian girls work as hookers in London. The article went as far as mentioning the girls' real names and even their family ties in Namibia.

SEVERAL Namibian girls living in the United Kingdom have joined the infamous escort industry, with many of them posing half-naked on British online escort agencies and advertising their services under different pseudonyms. An investigation by Informanté this week unearthed at least three well-known Namibian girls including Paulina Mulongeni and Monika Diamond Shafooli. Paulina is the youngest daughter of Director of Planning and Development in the Khomas Regional Council, Dr. Ben Mulongeni while Monika is sister to The Dogg. Paulina (21) listed her ‘services’ on at least two London based online escort agencies, Black Escort Guide, Latin Escort Guide, London Black and Latin Escorts. On the two websites, Paulina, who describes herself as a ‘20-year-old slim-build’ goes by the trade name ‘Niecy’ from Kensington, London. “Niecy will be very happy to meet you if you are a man, not wanting to meet boys,” Paulina wrote on her online profile. London Select and London Escort Listing mainly recruit Black and Latin escorts.

With the information provided in the article, it was possible, with two mouse clicks only, to access the profile pages of Niecy and another girl called Esperanza, including titty pictures in lingerie et al. I am quite shocked about this kind of journalism. Of course Informante claims to protect Namibian interests:

Namibian women studying abroad have complained that their counterparts have tainted the image of Namibians abroad. “Some women are giving us a bad name by selling their bodies. They go against all odds to make a living selling their bodies, and thus paint a dark picture for the good fruitful youth of our beloved land,” said an irate Namibian student in London.

Is it common for Informante to be this indiscreet? Do you agree with such reporting? Is it legitimate to expose the families like that?

Default Re: Informante exposes Namibian girls abroad as hookers

Personally I think it's gutter journalism and obviously meant to be sensationalist. If these girls are over 18 and not forced to do the job they are doing, and are "practising" with other consenting adults of their own free will I cannot see the problem. The parents are not responsible for their behaviour, now are they? If the girls have all the relevant papers, and do this legally how can one object? If it's not above board then I suppose any newspaper would be right to make enquiries. As to naming and shaming? Won't change a thing, will it? But that is not what you ask.

I think the Informante tries to too hard to be sensationalist and "investigative". The article says as much about the newspaper as it does about the activities of some Namibian girls.

Storm in a teacup is what this is, and the other students may as well concentrate on their own studies. Again: We live in a free world, where some adults engage in activities other people may not entirely agree with. So what?

Default Namibian girls in UK escort industry

When I first saw this, I thought ... this is way the cookie crumbles.

Namibian girls in UK escort industry

SEVERAL Namibian girls living in the United Kingdom have joined the infamous escort industry, with many of them posing half-naked on British online escort agencies and advertising their services under different pseudonyms. An investigation by Informanté this week unearthed at least three well-known Namibian girls including Paulina Mulongeni and Monika Diamond Shafooli. Paulina is the youngest daughter of Director of Planning and Development in the Khomas Regional Council, Dr. Ben Mulongeni while Monika is sister to The Dogg.

Paulina (21) listed her ‘services’ on at least two London based online escort agencies, Black Escort Guide, Latin Escourt Guide, London Black and Latin Escourts.

For a two-hour-long meeting with a client at the agency (in-call), Paulina charges as much as £250, while out-calls (if the escort goes to the client) cost £300 for two hours.
Dinner dates and overnights with Paulina are £400 in-call and £450 outcall, and £800 in-call and £850 pounds out-call, respectively.

On another website, http://www.90minute.co.uk Paulina trades under the profile name ‘Staci’, and describes herself as a 21-year-old British girl based in West Kensington, London.
In the eight pictures posted on her 90-minute escort agency profile, Paulina poses in a pink and white lace-bra and panties in different provocative positions on a white couch and stool.
When Informanté approached Mulongeni at his office on Tuesday to confirm the identity of the girl, he was shocked and disturbed to find out that the daughter he fondly describes as ‘reserved’, was in fact advertising herself online for ‘pay to play’.

He said his daughter must have joined the trade due to peer pressure or “circumstances beyond her control.”
“I know that people will use this to discredit me when executing my public duties. But, it has nothing to do with my performance as a public servant. I should not be blamed for her behaviour,” said Mulongeni.

“She went (to the UK) through legal ways. We speak on a regular basis and she never mentioned any problem she is experiencing there. She is a quiet girl. Of course, the family and public will be disturbed, but she chose to do that.”

Paulina’s best friend Shafooli, The Dogg’s sister, has been accused of introducing young and naïve Namibian girls to the escort industry in the UK, as she is said to be running an escort recruitment agency.

Shafooli, with dazzling green eyes and a busty chest, enhanced by a boob-job she had a few years ago, has allegedly been a courtesan since moving to the UK some four years ago.

“She (Shafooli) was married to an Italian in Namibia before she went to the UK, so she now has a European passport and is free to travel around Europe to entertain clients,” said a well-placed source in London.

Pictures of Shafooli dressed in black latex hot pants with knee-high leather boots and a revealing black top were dropped on Informanté’s desk this week after numerous girls in the UK sent complains about her luring young girls into the sex industry.

When called for comment, a seemingly surprised The Dogg confirmed that he and Shafooli are siblings, but said that he was in the dark about her business endeavours in the UK.

“Yes, we have the same mother, but I was not aware of it (escort business),” said a tongue-tied The Dogg.

Another 21-year-old Namibian, Ailly Iilende, who went to the UK as an Aupair candidate for a family based in London, also allegedly trades her apron and duster for stiletto high heels and sexy lingerie after hours.
Iilende, who sometimes goes by the surname Jan, trades sexual favours for money with http://www.londonescortlisting.co.uk under the pseudonym ‘Esperansa’.

In her on-line escort biography, voluptuous Iilende describes herself as a “mixed race girl, who likes to enjoy her life to the fullest. I’m lots of fun, kind and enjoy travelling and sexy time in doors.”

Although escort agencies have been the subject of many worldwide debates over the years, they are not illegal in the United Kingdom.

What is illegal is for a sex worker or her client to verbally discuss the exchange of sexual acts for money or other material possessions. Escorts cannot solicit customers or set a price for their services. All they can sell, by law, is their time.

Offensive passage removed - Pangkas, another warning. Shebeen

The other option is to push for the legalise sex trade in Namibia and believe me, people will certainly listen to you with first hand experience. No hard feelings doc, I 'll support you on this one.

Prostitution is as old as the hills, time to get use to it, or what you say doc?
