The Polytechnic, as a proponent of not only science and technology, but also the cultural treasures that are uniquely Namibian, is taking the lead in ensuring the protection of Namibia’s past and present by devoting significant energy and technical expertise to preserving physical treasures.

This is a daunting task, which will take many years of technical development and research to bring it to fruition.

On 30th July 2007, the Polytechnic in coordination with Utah Valley State College, USA will launch a five-year development effort that will seek to build the sustainable structure that will eventually become the backbone of its success. This joint effort is seen as a first of its kind in scope and association both in Namibia and internationally.

Working in coordination with the National Archive of Namibia and other related partners, cultural treasures such as photos, audio, and video materials will be digitized with the express purpose of guaranteeing their longevity and eventual release for public use.

The official logo and name of the project will be unveiled at the press conference and official partners, both in the private and government sector, formally commit to this grand undertaking.
