Eyes shut, head just in the right position, just what do we get up to?

Nothing can match the joy of taking a nap and sleeping but just what is it exactly?
The simplest definition of sleep/sleeping is,
A regularly recurring condition of body and mind in which the nervous system is inactive, the eyes closed, the postural muscles relaxed and consciousness practically suspended.
Get that, 'which the nervous system is inactive`?
We all know we have our own meaning of this inactive activity.
Now what is taking a nap?
Sleep lightly or briefly especially during the day.
Just what do we get up to when we are sleeping or taking a nap?
It is interesting that in dream sleep the brain is actually very active. And this is where things get really theoretical.
"We’re not really sure exactly what dreams accomplish. Some experts believe that dreaming is actually some king of clearing-out process.
More sleep researchers think that dreams serve the function of helping to reorganize and store psychological information taken in during the day," says Dr Neil B Kavey, director of the Sleep Disorders Centre in New York.
Now here` s a take of what I think we [I] get up to when we sleep/nap.
It helps us escape from reality, you get to escape from the horrible day at the office , helps you forget about the fight with your mother in law [who always seems to pop-in uninvited!
Its a time where you get to dwell in your own world [be George Bush for a while or even 50 cent], you get to live your fantasies through.
You are in control, you are the dictator, the Pope, Robert Mugabe and even Pamela Anderson.
Pain seems to seize when you nap/sleep, for a while you don't have any problems and you have no constraints.
But as everything in life they have effects!
For some when sleeping/napping, reality seems to creep in, problems arise from no where.
You are left to face life on your own ,you don't have the comfort of the noisy traffic to help you escape.
To some sleeping/napping is a time to get numb, a time were tranquillises seem to do the job.
It becomes a routine to pop-in a few, lean your head on something, anything and go to a world were there are restrictions.
The world comes to a stand still, nightmares creep in nobody can save you.
Nobody can ever be of comfort, nobodies touch, hug or smile can save you.
Do we even have a choice?
What if we never slept or napped?
What then?
