Made it. I will not promise during the week that I'll make it every evening. I'll do my best.

If there is one thing in this life I cannot take, then it is man man who has nothing better to do than hit a woman. That is not a man! That is a yellow blooming coward!

Yet you read about it day after day in the media, especially the Observer and, nowadays, in the Informanté. Every second case is where the husband has maltreated his wife. Doesn't matter if it is physical or mental abuse. Abuse is abuse and it should not be tolerated in our society.

There is a ministry for gender issues in Namibia, but very little seems to come out of that.

I have met police officers from the woman and child protection unit and must say that those I met were good. They had the necessary mix of psychology and police discipline. They knew what they were doing. And they treated everyone with respect ... where such respect was deserved! Even the apologies for men who were sozzled and aggressive. Slam him in jail and forget about him for a day or two. Once he is sober, he will think twice before trying something like that again.

Maybe it's a sign of our modern life? Everybody rushing and rushing and not having time to sit down, relax and digest the pressure. And then the valve blows! Don't know what to do about it.

Is this the costs we have to pay and bear for being "civilised"? For having all the latest cars, the biggest TVs, the Internet, the fanciest game consoles, real genuine imitation Nikes, Hugo Boss suits, etc.?

Then I wonder if it is all worth it.

Why, oh why doesn't Zimbabwe have oil? All this trouble would have been over and done with a long time ago. The UN, the US, the EU and all other organisations with important-sounding abbreviated names representing people who need fuel, would have been there to prevent the country from going up in flames. Even SADC with its chicken chief emissary.

That is not so certain now. With the Mighty M pronouncing that he could not care less who won the run-off, the danger of civil war is becoming a real threat.

Why, oh why can't our leaders take a stand and say: "Listen, you octogenarian f..t! You messed around the people long enough. Go and go away quickly!"

I suppose that will never happen in my lifetime!

Pity ... and these people call themselves "leaders"? To where? To hell, maybe!
