  2. RDP appeals to Swapo to stop political violence in the country

    The Rally for Democracy and Progress, RDP, has called upon people who have influence on the SWAPO Party to act, charging that some party members could turn the country into a besieged fortress of violence and turmoil.

    RDP Khomas Regional Coordinator, Jeremia Nambinga, made the appeal following Saturday's incident in Windhoek where SWAPO members prevented the RDP from holding a public rally.

  3. Five men arrested for breaking into prisons offices

    The police have arrested five men suspected of breaking into the offices of the Department of Prisons and Correctional Services in Windhoek a month ago.

    During the break-in, the thieves stole eleven fire-arms and other items, including a computer hard drive.

    The arrests were made towards the end of last week and the suspects are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate's court today.

  4. Strike at Rosh Pinah results into huge loss to the Zinc mine

    The strike at Rosh Pinah's Skorpion Zinc Mine is reported to have resulted in losses running into millions of dollars.

    A source at the mine says 15 trucks with tonnes of zinc valued at close to 16-million dollars leave for Luderitz daily, from where the zinc is exported.

    The source notes that if the dispute drags on, the company will be seriously affected.
