DHPS won the FNB Coastal Schools Table Tennis Championships, which were held last weekend at the Namib High School in Swakopmund.

The tournament, which was hosted by the Namibian Table Tennis Association attracted a total of seven schools which participated on a round robin basis.

Bank Windhoek has partnered with Intendo Gymnastics Club to host the second Qualifying Trampoline and Tumbling Competition, to be hosted on 25 July 2009.

This Qualifying Tournament allows the gymnasts much needed competition and aims to expose the sport to the wider public. Amongst the 47 gymnasts that will be in action this weekend are the well-known Michellé Solomons, Jivanka Kruger and Nicole Visser. These 47 gymnasts hail from four clubs.

The highlight of this weekend’s sporting activities takes place at the Windhoek Country Club on Saturday evening when Paulus “The Hitman” Moses will defend his WBA lightweight title against Takehiro Shimada of Japan.
There will be several other fights on the undercard including two Pan African title fights. Tickets have been going like hotcakes but there might still be a few left at the Namibia Boxing Control Board.

As in previous years, it was the Jägermeister Team from South Africa that ran away with most of the trophies at the AMU MX Championships that took place at the Gallina Race Track over the weekend. The top women’s golfing event on the local calendar, the Bank Windhoek Namibia Ladies Open Strokeplay Championship will be held at the Windhoek Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. Bank Windhoek, who have sponsored the event for the past 11 years, announced that they will once again sponsor the event to an amount of N$20 000. Additionally, each participant will receive a gift package at registration.
