    Maritzburg United and FC AK drew 1-all in the first leg of the South African National First Division play-off final at FC AK’s Eldorado Park in Johanneburg on Wednesday afternoon.

    Namibian striker Costa Khaiseb gave FC AK the lead on 32 minutes, before Fadlu Davids equalised for Maritzburg United on 58 minutes.
    The draw gave Maritzburg an important psychological advantage ahead of the return leg on Sunday at their home ground at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. ...

  2. Snewe not surprised by Schans resignation

    Mighty Gunners coach Dawid Snewe says the writing was on the wall for Brave Warriors coach Arie Schans, who resigned with immediate effect on Wednesday. Schans decided to jump first after returning from the ill-fated 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifier match in Conakry where the Brave Warriors lost 4-0 to Guinea.     Agnes Samaria came second in the women’s 1 500m at an athletics meeting in Jerez, Spain on Tuesday in an excellent time of 4:05,67.

    Her time was once again below the Olympic qualifying time of 4:07,00 and it is now the second time within the past ten days that she has gone under the Olympic qualifying time.
