DHPS won the FNB Coastal Schools Table Tennis Championships, which were held last weekend at the Namib High School in Swakopmund.
The tournament, which was hosted by the Namibian Table Tennis Association attracted a total of seven schools which participated on a round robin basis.
The DHPS team, which consisted of Jakon Machleidt, Mats Gladow and Fredrik Brückner beat the much favoured Mariental High School 3-0 in the final.
Gladlow was the only player who finished the tournament unbeaten.
The Mariental High School team was made up of the newly crowned Windhoek Junior Champion Govany Isaacks, along with Danville Mouton and Romanus Kanyanga.
West Side High A was the surprise package of the tournament - they played some excellent table tennis and finished third overall.
The fairplay award went to Namib High School after they showed true sportsmanship in victory and defeat, they were also fourth overall.
Ingrid Goeiman of FNB commended the Namibia Table Tennis Association for their commitment and enthusiasm.
“”We believe that sport is healthy and it does not matter if you don’t participate in the big ticket sports such as soccer or cricket, as smaller sport codes in Namibia that strive to achieve something also deserve the support of corporate sponsors,” Goeiman said.
West Side High School B finished fifth, DHPS B was sixth and SKW was seventh.
