Cuff wins Namibian Cycle Classic

Ingram Cuff won the Pick n Pay Namibian Cycle Classic on Sunday when he beat Jacques Celliers in a sprint to the line. Cuff completed the 100km race in a time of 2:35:00, to finish four seconds ahead of Celliers, while Till Drobisch came third a further 10 seconds behind.
It was the first major victory for the 28-year-old Cuff, who represented Namibia’s development team at the 2009 African Cycling Championships in Windhoek.
Michael Pretorius finished fourth in 2:35:17, while Matthias Kreft came fifth in 2:35:18.
The junior cyclist Vera Adrian won the women’s race over 100km, finishing 30th overall in a time of 2:53:17, while Michaela Milz came second and 36th overall in 2:58:16. Veteran cyclist Zoe Mitchell was the third female home in a time of 3:04:18.
A total of 1 159 cyclists participated in the Cycle Classic which took place for the tenth consecutive year.
Cyclists could participate in one of four categories - the 100km, 65km, 30km and 20km categories.
Charl Rall won the 65km category in 1:43:58, followed by Oliver Fryer (1:44:05) and Henry Page (1:44:06), while Andre Huyshamen won the 30km category in 1:02:25, followed by William Prinz (1:02:32) and Gerrit van Schalkwyk (1:02:32).
Lionel Cloete won the 20km category in 36:00, followed by Genivo Mouton (38:52) and Arthur Diergaardt (39:30).
