Bank Windhoek has partnered with Intendo Gymnastics Club to host the second Qualifying Trampoline and Tumbling Competition, to be hosted on 25 July 2009.

This Qualifying Tournament allows the gymnasts much needed competition and aims to expose the sport to the wider public. Amongst the 47 gymnasts that will be in action this weekend are the well-known Michellé Solomons, Jivanka Kruger and Nicole Visser. These 47 gymnasts hail from four clubs.

Trampoline is a competitive Olympic sport in which gymnasts perform simple jumps in the pike, tuck or straddle position to more complex combinations of forward or backward somersaults and twists while bouncing on a trampoline.

The sport requires a substantial amount of practise, dedication, a high degree of commitment and focus to enable a gymnast to perform a routine of 10 different saltos (somersaults). All saltos and other elements are performed in the air, while the gymnast must always land on the trampoline bed.

Tumbling is performed on tumbling strips and can include up to eight elements, which include saltos and rotations. The elements are performed as one continuous exercise.

The tournament starts at 08:00 at the United Sports Ground and will continue till 18h00. The entrance fee is N$10 for adults.
