The Brave Warriors take on Zimbabwe in their final FIFA World Cup qualifying match at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium at 16h00 on Saturday afternoon.
Namibia is bottom of the log and out of the running for a place in the 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations finals, while Zimbabwe have a very small chance of going through to the next round. Their chances depend on the outcome of the other Group 2 match between Guinea and Kenya which takes place in Conakry at the same time.
If Kenya beat Guinea and Zimbabwe beat Namibia by a big margin, they might still have a chance to qualify as one of the eight second best placed teams.
Namibia lost their first round encounter 2-0 in Harare and are now determined to win the match in front of their home fans. They might be a bit thin in attack in the absence of Henrico Botes and Costa Khaiseb, but then again, it could provide an opportunity for someone else to grab their chance. In players like Sydney Plaatjies, Quinton Jacobs, Collin Benjamin, Paulus Shipanga and Rudolph Bester they certainly have the quality to pull off a victory although Zimbabwe also have a host of quality players in their side.
It should be a great battle so make sure you are at the Independence Stadium on Saturday afternoon to witness the Battle of the Warriors.
On Sunday the Namibian Pick n Pay Cycle Classic takes place, starting at 08h00 in Frank Fredericks Avenue in Olympia. It has grown into one of the biggest events on the sporting calendars and up to 1 500 cyclists are expected to take to the road on Sunday.
