Ten Namibian records at SA Gala

A total of 10 Namibian records were broken at the Telekom South African Short Course Championships which took place in Germiston from September 4 to 7, 2008.



Lindemeier breaks seven records

The 16-year old Daniela Lindemeier from Marlins Swimming Club was in great form to break seven Namibian records.

In the 50m breaststroke she first broke the Namibian record in the heats with a time of 34,90 seconds, and then broke it again in the semifinals with a time of 34,61. She broke the 200m breaststroke record in the heats with a time of 2:42,96 and again in the final with a time of 2:40,70 where she finished fifth overall.

In the 100m breaststroke Lindemeier broke the Namibian record on three occasions. She first set a new record time of 1:15,50 in the heats and then brought it down to 1:15,48 in the semifinals. In the final she once again broke the record with a time of 1:15,47.

Delie sets three records

The 16-year-old Quinton Delie from Dolphins Swimming Club broke three Namibian records and set two new records.

In the 200m freestyle he set a new record time of 2:00,78; in the 50m freestyle he set a new record time of 25,07 seconds, and in the 100m Individual Medley he set a new record time of 1:02,50.
He also set new records for the 100m backstroke with a time of 1:02,50 and 200m butterfly in a time of 2:17.44.

Wahl improving fast


The 16-year-old Corinna Wahl from Dolphins Swimming Club also performed excellently and improved on five of her personal best times. Her best performance came in the 50m freestyle event where her time of 27,99 seconds was just outside the Namibian record of 27,98.
