South Africa win Boys’ Volleyball gold

South Africa won the gold medal in the Boys Volleyball category at the COSSASA Ball Games.
South Africa won all four of its matches, finishing well ahead of Botswana, who won two and lost two matches, and Namibia, who lost all four its matches.



South Africa beat Namibia 3-0 in the boys volleyball competition.

South Africa were in a class of their own, beating Botswana 3-0 on two occasions and also beating Namibia 3-0 on two occasions.

Botswana won the silver medal, after beating Namibia 3-0 twice, while Namibia won the bronze after losing all of its matches 3-0.

Teslan Murray of South Africa won the Best Setter award, Letso Galeromelwe of Botswana won the Best Attacker award, Dean Layters of South Africa won the Best Defensive Player award, and Ayanda Nkosi of South Africa won the Most Valuable Player award.

Botswana win Girls’ Volleyball competition

The girls’ volleyball competition was closely contested, with Botswana eventually beating South Africa to the gold medal on sets difference.
Both teams won three of their four matches, but Botswana had a slightly better sets aggregate (10-3) as opposed to South Africa’s 9-4.

Namibia won the bronze medal after losing all of its matches.

Oteng Machibe of Botswana won the Best Setter award, Nokuthula Sviya of Botswana won the Best Attacker award, Hildreth Ferris of South Africa won the Best Defensive Player award and Christin Delcarme of South Africa won the Most Valuable Player award.
