South Africa win Boys’ Basketball

South Africa won the gold medal in the Boys Basketball category at the COSSASA Ball Games.
South Africa comfortably won both its matches, beating Namibia 68-38 and Botswana 50-18 to take the gold medal.

Namibia won the silver medal after beating Botswana 61-55 in an exciting match, while Botswana won the bronze medal.
South Africa’s Point Guard Chad Peter Smitsdorff won the award for the Most Valuable Player.

Botswana win Girls’ Basketball

Botswana won the gold medal in the girls’ basketball competition after causing one of the biggest upsets of the tournament. They thrashed South Africa 61-10 and then beat Namibia 42-29 to take the gold medal ahead of South Africa.

South Africa however bounced back with a 68-11 victory against Namibia to win the silver medal, while Namibia took the bronze.

South Africa’s Shooting Guard Modiegi Mokoba won the Most Valuable Player award.
