    Default Is society essentially convservative?

I've always wondered: Since Namibia has so many tribes and so many languages are spoken, and over 80% of peope call themselves Christian is this society predominantly conservative or liberal? It seems to me from afar that the country has a liberal Constitution but is really Conservative politically and socially? Right? Wrong?

Good Question, I'd go for definately Conservative and rigid in many instances.

Yes the constitution is really liberal in its setup but the mindsets of the indivduals, particularly of the people in decision making, economically, politically, etc. are indeed nothing short of Conservative and narrow minded. We still have a long way to go in terms of how we interpret the written word in the !Namib.....

How does the saying go: "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones"? Judging by your own grammar and spelling you also seem to be "handicapped" Could you maybe share some more of your insights with regard to "handicapped in other spheres of life"? What do you mean, and/or imply?

Namibians are traditional peoples, so maybe they can be called socially conservative. Some of the Western cultural values are different to our people.

Hey Andrew, the answer to your question depends on what you consider liberal or conservative.

What would you says about an organization
    • where members call each other "comrades"
    • that is best friends with China, Cuba and North Korea
    • that has a "Politburo" and other Soviet-stlye structures
    • that would scrap democracy the second it would be financially viable, i.e. China and Russia would replace the development aid from Germany and the US in its entirety
    • that calls Mugabe the greatest African alive
At the same time, this organization claims
    • freedom of speech can be neglected
    • a free press is not important
    • homosexuality is not African
    • the West is decadent
I suppose this organization would be called radically left-wing in Europe and the US and might even be banned, while at the same time the typical lefties in the West would definitely have a problem with the homophobic and anti-civil liberties attitude within this organization. I suppose you could call that conservative in a socialistic, African way!

All the same, organizations like that do exist in Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Yet what makes me most sad, is the situation of the uninsured working poor, with no health programs and no economic help.

Can we set-up a system to resue these people?

Why not addressing the issue of poverty in a independant country, that replaced an old system that denied basic, economic and political rights to the mayority of its people, with a mark of democracy, peace and stability.

It manage to strength peace and stability, trade and economic development, on a scale of prosperity, but to the vast mayority sadly, out of reach.

How can we transfer to the previously disadvanced should be our aims and objectives.

    This is my diagnostic.

My model and motivation is lobbying efforts, a strategy for shared growth, to impowered issues, job creation, education, black economic transparent empowerment, and much more.

We need in Namibia a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system, that socialy, policaly and economicaly, care for its people.
