    Default Learning Oshiwambo

    Hallo there!

I would like to learn oshiwambo. I tried to do so with the help of friends but unfortunately it is not really working.
They teach me sentences but I have got the feeling I need to understand the grammar to be able to make my own sentences. I don´t want to learnsentences by heart only. I wish I would be able to create my own sentences...

Is there anyone who could give em an advice where to aks for a course or something like that? Or does someone maybe know about a grammar book you could recommend?

Thanks so much for your help!

In case it matters... I would prefere to learn Kwaniama...

Best wishes to all of you
    Anitjie

Thanks juikk! The last you tube link you have posted I know already. What I miss is to get some grammar about the language... Do you know any institute by name that is offering a course wth grammar elements? Or do you know wehre to get a book or something cause at the moment I am not in Namibia... but I want to go on studying...

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi Antje - I attended an Oshiwambo course years ago at the Polytechnic of Namibia. Check with them also. It was after hours and conveninet. I couldn't finish it due to other obligations, but at the time it was very enjoyable.

    Hey,

I have this great e-book on how to learn Oshikwanyama (arguably the most popular Oshiwambo dialect). It was written by American students who were doing research in Namibia a few years ago. Its not flawless, but they did justice to the language (I'm Kwanyama, by the way).

These guys will solve your problem, Trust me. If this doesn't teach you Oshiwambo grammar and all that stuff, nothing else will!

Contact me and I'll mail it to you:

    @ Galaxy

Thnaks a lot for the link. That seems to be a very good adress for the beginning! It is in Ndonga... is there an equivalent page for learning Kwanyama? Where are the differences? I started with kwanyama... does it play a role if I go further with Ndonga?

    Thnaks for your support
